The reserved words of C++ may be conveniently placed into several groups. In the first group we put those that were also present in the C programming language and have been carried over into C++. There are 32 of these, and here they are: auto const double float int short struct unsigned break continue else for long signed switch void case default enum goto register sizeof typedef volatile char do extern if return static union while
There are another 30 reserved words that were not in C, are therefore new to C++, and here they are: asm dynamic_cast namespace reinterpret_cast try bool explicit new static_cast typeid catch false operator template typename class friend private this using const_cast inline public throw virtual delete mutable protected true wchar_t
The following 11 C++ reserved words are not essential when the standard ASCII character set is being used, but they have been added to provide more readable alternatives for some of the C++ operators, and also to facilitate programming with character sets that lack characters needed by C++. and bitand compl not_eq or_eq xor_eq and_eq bitor not or xor
Note that your particular compiler may not be completely up-to-date, which means that some (and possibly many) of the reserved words in the preceding two groups may not yet be implemented.

I have given below the activities done in Excel VBA:-
1) I have a Main excel working file where I need to download the data from various bank statements in a specified format.
2) The respective bank file will be opened through main working file by the user and downloads the data in a specified format on daily basis.
The above mentioned operation was done in EXCEL VBA. As successfully going on the project for some Target assessmemnt, we are planning to implement the same with VB6 and Access database.
I would like to know, how can we open a bank statement (text format & excel format) through VB6 coding and how can we access from VB6 to text file/excel file to collect the data.
hi. what are the reserved words for c++? a blind programming student . got hold of teach your self c++ in 21 days, second edition. now tried compiling with text pad 5, and using cygwin and cygmus. but when i tried to compile, said the executible had no input files. so how to set it up with text pad 5. cheers Marvin. Our group's main motive is to sharing knowledge & experinces of each other, solving each others technical problem.
Please follow the following guidelines on this mailing list. Please read this completely before arguing with the moderator about the reject of your post.
1. Use a proper subject -----------------------
A proper Subject is very important. Subject should be understandable. It should be an abstract of what your question is. (i.e instantly one should guess/understand the content).
Some example subject lines are: * problem/doubt in increment. * problem/doubt in loop. * static functions * C/C++ Puzzle (man crossing river)
Subject lines such as `help me`., `help please`., `help help help` are liable for rejection. If you post without a subject, you are still liable for rejection.
If you are posting a job offer/advertisement on this group, you should have a subject starting with [commercial]. All advertisements should carry the [commercial] tag on the subject line. Examples: * [commercial] Experienced C/C++ professionals wanted * [commercial] New Freshers Group
If the question/mail that you are sending to the group is not C/C++ related but you think would be interesting to the members of the group., then you should add a "[ot]" tag to the subject line. Examples: * [ot] Interesting software engineering link * [ot] programming humour * [ot] patents problem
2. Question should be descriptive with all the details. -------------------------------------------------------
Please mention your problem clearly and give as much details as possible. If you have a compiler error., mention the compiler, the version, the error that it throws, the part of your program that is causing the error etc.
3. Always do bottom posting. ----------------------------
For replying we prefer Bottom Posting than Top posting i.e. if you are replying to someone's query, let the answer be mentioned below the query, so that no one is confused and can understand the respective query and its answer. Please dont start an argument on which is better. This has been heavily debated on this list. Check the archives.
If the post that you are quoting is long., then trim it. Quote only the content that is necessary. Dont quote a 5 page email for one small reply. Many people on this list use POP3 and are on Dialup lines. Long unnecessary emails are painful to them.
5. What should be posted and what should not ??? ------------------------------------------------
You can mention any thing related to C/C++ programming. Queries, information or job announcements, etc. are allowed here. Anything other than C/C++ programming is considered off topic on this group. Any off-topic messages, without the "[ot]" tag are liable for rejection by the moderator.
Request 1 : Please help to bring more members to this group by telling your friends.

In Vb 6.0 You can get keystocks type vbkey then press ctrl+space it will show all keystrocks.
when i compile (javac.SampleRegex.java) this programe, it compiles but when i run it with (SampleRegex.java) error come that "java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException"
I have a file which have more then 10,000 lines. Each line ends up with a particular word.
e.g 100 Club 100 Oxford Street W 1 101 Club Charing Cross Road Wc2 12 Club 12 Denhain Street W1 151 Club 151 King's Road Sw3 1520 A D 17 Swallow Street W1 16 (Hotel) 16 Sumner Place Sw7 167 (Hotel) 167 Old Brompton Road Sw 180 Club 180 Earl1s Court Road Sw5 190 Restaurant 190 Exhibition Road 192 Restaurant 192 Kensington Park Road W11 1l2 Kirkdale Se26 2 Brydges Club 2 Brydges Place Bedfordbury Wc2
What I want to do, is that, I want to extract all those lines which ends up with a particular word like W1.
I have written a code, which copy all the text from source file and paste it on destination file. But in destination file I want copied only those line which ends up with "W1"
My code is here
import java.io.File; import java.io.FileReader; import java.io.FileWriter; import java.io.IOException; public class Copy { public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { File inputFile = new File("source.txt"); File outputFile = new File("DestFile.txt"); FileReader in = new FileReader(inputFile); FileWriter out = new FileWriter(outputFile); int c; while ((c = in.read()) != -1)
Thanks for this Derek. Am still on XP, but that day of the inevitable 'upgrade' is drawing ever closer.

After surfing around the net, I've found very little information regarding installation of VB6 on Windows 7. Most of the information out there is for Vista, and most of it is queries for assistance.
You may be wondering why someone would want to utilize VB6 on a shiny new operating system like Windows 7. Or even Vista for that matter.
There are about a bazillion legacy applications out there that have to be supported, and people like me who speak VB6 need to have the tools installed on our workstations in order to implement and test updates and such for these legacy applications.
It also helps out when I need to squirt out a quick tool for use in my daily work.

So without further delay, here is the process that I have used on my Windows 7 machines to install Visual Basic 6.
Turn off UAC.
Insert Visual Studio 6 CD.
Exit from the Autorun setup.
Browse to the root folder of the VS6 CD.
Right-click SETUP.EXE, select Run As Administrator.
On this and other Program Compatibility Assistant warnings, click Run Program.
Click Next.
Click "I accept agreement", then Next.
Enter name and company information, click Next.
Select Custom Setup, click Next.
Click Continue, then Ok.
Setup will "think to itself" for about 2 minutes. Processing can be verified by starting Task Manager, and checking the CPU usage of ACMSETUP.EXE.
On the options list, select the following:
- Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0
- ActiveX
- Data Access
- Graphics
All other options should be unchecked. Click Continue, setup will continue.
Finally, a successful completion dialog will appear, at which click Ok. At this point, Visual Basic 6 is installed.
If you do not have the MSDN CD, clear the checkbox on the next dialog, and click next. You'll be warned of the lack of MSDN, but just click Yes to accept.
Click Next to skip the installation of Installshield. This is a really old version you don't want anyway.
Click Next again to skip the installation of BackOffice, VSS, and SNA Server. Not needed!
On the next dialog, clear the checkbox for "Register Now", and click Finish.
The wizard will exit, and you're done. You can find VB6 under Start, All Programs, Microsoft Visual Studio 6.
I've not tested this on Vista, but it should work for you there as well. Give it a try, and let me know how it works!
Enjoy!

In my code, I use two programs at the beginning of each form. One flips the from Insert mode to Overwrite Mode in a textbox. The other moves the selection to the next object on the form when you press the enter key just as it does for the Tab key. Maybe these will help. Note, you must set "KeyPreview" to true. I do this when I first start the program.
frmMain.KeyPreview = True ' Used to recognize Enter
Private Sub Form_KeyDown(KeyCode As Integer, Shift As Integer)
How can i capture the keyboard keystrokes Ctrl + Alt+ F12 when it press simultaneously just like windows ctrl+alt+del ?
Thanks for the reply.

Hi ,
Project Name : "PVQT"
Task : Convert existing Open source project to Java lang. existing software composed with C++ lang & OpenGL ,
I don mean u, dead sure u have lots of experience to have such a deduction, but for those have problem with ORMs or other tools and techs, there is a famous proverb, "A bad workman blames his tools". In software work, the design can make a product brilliant or bring it to the hell, which is highly ignored by us.
Just give u an example, when we use to implement our product using JDBC, we usually had a simple design and code for handling a master-detail entity, and we are so flexible to implement it however we loved to depends on the scale of the case. Maybe if it was a basic info entity we made a selection on all records and filled the master-detail-entity, or we lazily loaded the details (children) using a different biz method, or whatever, the same in saving data in DB.
Now ORMs simplize the persistence layer for example for this case, by its diferent relational mapping, BUT we should not forget an enterprise project is so different comparing to a website or a small project. You should not have a blind trust the implementation of technology vendors, and you have to count any cent on those kinf of projects. Refering to my master-detail example, ORMs make that easy, but you must handle memory leaking, loading large valume of data and lots of other pitfalls by choosing appropriate strategy in your analysis/desgin and the implementation.

Kabi

Dear All,
What I deduce from posts in this mailing list, Hibernate seems to be a dominant persistency solution for most of projects in Iran.
While this is completely reasonable for small or mid-size projects, I would like my friends to take more caution before deciding to use Hibernate in large scale projects.
Trough various projects, I have seen that, while Hibernate seems very handy and promising in the initial steps of the work, it gradually becomes more complex as project and schema begin to coupe with real world challenges.
Since I'm pretty sure many friends (which are already happy with Hibernate) will complain I don't want to get much into details but we all know Hibernate fails to provide enterprise class features that are mandatory for large scale projects. To name a few; weak query generation, database specific features, performance and optimal cache and transactional behavior.
In these cases, what happens at the end is that teams begin to migrate their HQL logic into pure JDBC or stored-procedures in favor of speed which itself result in a hybrid hard-to-maintain code base.
Although ORM concept is still a big question in computer science, for large projects I can recommend enterprise class ORMs such as EclipseLink or Cocobase, query brokers, good old JDBC, stored-procedures, IMDBs, or even non-standard but super fast set-based API of IMDGs such as those for Coherence.

Hi,
The old image is in the browser cache. When you refresh the page it looks for the cache . If the browser finds in the cache, it will take from cache instead of loading once again from server.
So if you are using IE delete the temporary internet files. If you are using firefox choose "clear private data " .If you are using safari select "Reset safari" or "empty cache"

Dave, Which event do you want to monitor? Delphi has many events and if the one you want is not there then you can create a new object, intercept the messages that notify the event change and then fire your own events.

I don't remember where I downloaded all the version I have tried, I remember going on microsoft.com and others as I tryed all I could to solve the problem because it could be a corrupted file from a site or an other and none asked for money and everything is legal, I don't know the path other members have taken and pay a fortune just to get this basic program editor that I desire to use but what I understand is free from microsoft.com and my friend who manage a computer shop and seller, install this program on the hard disk of the computer he's selling freely from the downloading microsoft.com site on demand for the clients. He write it on a cdrom for me for free and at home that version asked for service pack 2 wich I downloaded also for free but visualbasic6 still not work.

In a small window it says do not find the file on the cdrom wich do not exist and ask for an other path, and seem to not be able to see the file on the hard disk, and everything return to the beginning of this last sentence. **************************** --- In visualbasic6programming@yahoogroups.com, "Phlame Jones" <enphlamer@...> wrote: > > if you DID NOT PAY FOR IT, then it is considered piracy. bottom line. now i suggest that you download the visual studio 200X express version. that is definitely free for personal use, and that way you wont have any issues with people discrediting your efforts as piracy. microsoft usually does not have their files in compressed form that you can just unzip. you normally have to install their products with an installer program that comes with their products. like some setup.exe or installer.msi. that has been my experience with their software. > > as for how some members have had success, my job paid for VB6. so i only use that at work. but just recently, i have found that VS express exists. so now i have that free version at home. and even that free program has installers, and not compressed files that you deal with. > > just be mindful of what you say/do, that can determine if people will help you or not. > > --- In visualbasic6programming@yahoogroups.com, cedric52 <no_reply@> wrote: > > > > It is not piracy. It makes quite a difference if the third party communication can or should be asynchronous. On top of that, is there a talk back channel from the third party? JCA seems to be a necessary solution if you are opting for synchronous communication and the third party operation should be part of the web service transaction. Unfortunately I am a door knob here so I won't say more. However, if asynchronous communication is permitted and the third party component can talk back to whoever-contains-the-web-service, I do suggest you looking into using persistent state machines. Each side of this communication has a state machine which remembers in which state of talking this side is in, and each event will move the operation one step closer unless an error happens. Each event here can be carried synchronously. This might not be the solution for you if your me-and-my-third-party logic is not slicable like the bread I still have in my kitchen.

it depends on what the "third party application" is and what capabilities it has. is it the one that you are connecting over sockets? is it the only way? if you tell us more about the TP application and how you're connecting to it we could help more.

Hi All,
I have been digging through google and have not been able to find a workaround, but I did find a few claims that there is not equivelant to WithEvents in Delphi.
Is this still true?
Here is a snippet of VB code I want to convert: Private WithEvents myPS autECLPS
The entire rest of the API I am working with uses standard events processing, but this one last bit it crucial. I would hate to port everything to VB this point. My current workaround involves using a timer to keep checking for updates, but I would prefer to make this event driven instead. Currenltly I can turn on the event, but I cannot point it to an actual procedure :(

The code you are showing us works like this... The main() method is invoked, and, presumably, there is one or more arguments applied to the method when it is called. If the application is launched from the command line, for example, it would be something like
java Test 123
As main() executes, it goes into a for loop. The for loop declares and initializes an integer, i, as the control variable. This loop will iterate once through the block for each occurrance of an argument in the arguments list passed to the application. For each iteration, the for loop will print out something. For the first iteration of the loop, the control varialbe i will be equal to zero, so the code will therefore print out args[0], that is, the first argument supplied to the app. The other iterations of the loop will have non-zero values of i, therefore, the code will print out a space character, follwed by the args[i] ( which is current argument supplied to the application.) So, in summary, the program outputs all arguments supplied to the Test application in sequence, separated by space characters.

I use the DevExpress VCL and have a subscription with source to the entire product line. I don't use .Net, so I can't comment on that.
The VCL support is superb, especially if you buy the subscription. The subscription is pretty pricey though.
If you don't subscribe, peer support on their forums is pretty good.
As a subscriber, I typically get less than one-day-turnaround on most questions or trouble reports. Tech support will frequently send code snippets to demonstrate a workaround or best practices, or analyze my broken code in response to questions or trouble reports.
Their tech support never gives you snide answers like another component company I can think of that will go unmentioned. (AtoZed). Oops, it just slipped out, honest ;-)
I get updated components from DevExpress about 6 times a year. They add new stuff and fix buglets all the time.
The DevExpress VCL documentation is good and they ship lots of fairly useful examples you can use as templates, so most of the time you don't need much support.
The learning curve is pretty steep - DevExpress DB grids work very differently than the run of the mill Delphi DB grids and it takes a while to get up to speed. That being said, it is well worth the effort.
All the components I have used (most of their VCL libary) have been very solid. I remain a big fan and use it daily on two separate 1.4 million lines of code Delphi projects.
you didn't get the point. the question was, what if the target platform for xml file is a legacy terminal that can only be accessible through sockets?
in that case the wise decision would be to make that socket to be transaction aware, because if the target platform is already functioning as expected the cost of adding the stuff that you listed would be much higher than making socket transaction ware

any suggestions to to do both the database operations in a single transaction.
I want to save the data to the database not in memory before rolback. Because the send of XML will happen on that event.
Have been using Visual Studio Installer (VSI) to install VB6 apps for a little while now. In my current app I use it to create registry keys and values. VSI can set a property for the registry key so that it will not be removed when then app is uninstalled. However I find that the uninstall process removes the registry key irrespective of the setting of this property. The registry key does have a value.
Has anyone come across this before? Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause or a solution?
